Post-operative care
After the surgery, you will receive an envelope containing documents:
Certificate for your health insurance
Certificate for your employer
Pain management plan
Medication prescription on the identity card
Home nursing prescription if necessary
Follow-up appointment
Contact details of the Foot and Ankle Institute
Assistive devices
A post-operative shoe/boot may be prescribed. The bandagist will contact you directly. They provide a post-operative shoe or walking boot. You do not need to buy anything yourself.
Crutches preferably bring your own.
Renting crutches is a practical solution for temporary mobility issues, often available through local pharmacies, home care stores (such as Medipoint or Vegro) and mutual insurance lending services.
A knee scooter or knee crutch is very useful and can be purchased or rented online via kniesteps.be or similar.
